in Beaver County will receive $22,500 for a remotwe communications outlet that will let pilots communicate with Pittsburgh AirTraffic Control. The Butlee Farm Show Aiport in Butler County willreceive $112,500 for constructiom of security perimeter fencing. And the in Washington County willreceive $127,500 to build a modernize its administration building and upgrade the fule farm’ws credit card system. The money comes from Pennsylvania’xs tax on jet fuel and is administerede bythe . The three Pittsburgh-area grants are amontg 16 being madethroughoutr Pennsylvania. In all, the state is spendingy $3 million and leveraging $904,800 in local matchingv funds.
The other projects are: in Bucks which will receive $225,000 to assist with the purchass of land below the approach tothe airport; in Cambria which will receive $30,000 to repaitr fuel facility equipment; in Centre County, whic will receive $750,000 for a projec t to widen and pave the in Centre County, which will receive $123,750 to buy a jet refuelingh vehicle; in Cumberland which will receive $183,750 for a runway lighting system project; in Dauphin County, which will receive $135,900p for an aircraft parking and taxiway in Lancaster County, which will receive $210,000 for an aircraft parkinv and taxiway project; in Labanon which will receive $37,500 to buy snow removal and mowin equipment; in Lehigh which will receive $58,500 for pavement maintenance; in McKean which will receive $112,500 to buy 20 acresx of land for future development; in Montgomery County, whicgh will receive $82,500 to continu e the removal of runway obstructions and improve in Northampton C ounty, which will receive $127,50o0 for new runway lights and a new electricap vault, and in Wyomin County, which will receive $375,000 for airfield and terminal “Airports are important assets that can attracr new business and create jobs,” Rendel said in a written statemeng announcing the grants.
“We are making the smart investments necessary to increase economic vitalitty and facilitate the morethan $12 billion in statw revenue the aviation industry yieldas each year. By investing in our aviationj assets we can help sustain our communities and retaibn jobsacross Pennsylvania.”
